A busy busy week last week, which made a nice change, and it managed to not be hugely expensive, so I don't feel so bad about the rather ridiculous amount of money I seem to be spending on dvds and other shinies at the moment.

Tuesday - The new dining room table hosted its first magic evening! It was a resounding success, the pie made with our too-solid blackberry jam and apples was somewhat less resounding due to extreme sweetness - not aided by using braeburns as these were the only type of apple available at mini-tesco. Humbug.

Wednesday - Brick at the Prince Charles with [livejournal.com profile] non_trivial and [livejournal.com profile] sarahinthepark followed by Chinese. I enjoyed the film although it might be a little too cool for it's own good (and why set it in high school when it's not important to the plot and your actors are all 25?), good food (although they seemed very troubled by the idea of duck pancakes for a main course) and excellent company. We all felt very middle aged when we started falling asleep in our soup at 8.30.

Thursday - Starbucks and dinner with James following a frustrating 1/2 hour in M&S. I had a top to return and was going to buy something new for the wedding, except I couldn't find anything. So I ended up making up the exchange value in bits and bobs and then spending more money in Accessorize instead. But at least dinner at Cafe Pasta was good.

Friday - Day of work (woo!) and [livejournal.com profile] flickgc and [livejournal.com profile] drplokta's wedding (woohoo!). I had a wonderful morning lazing around the house attempting to prettify myself. I found myself deeply amused by the concept of doing my nails while watching the Best of Top Gear. The wedding was lovely, the food was amazing, the company superb and even the emptiness of the dance floor couldn't keep me away when Love Shack was played. Wonderful day, many congratulations!

Saturday - London Open House. I would have loved to do the Metro Life Hike around the Circle Line overnight, but decided I'd rather eat duck and drink champagne, go figure. But next year I will be nagging people about it. Instead I trooped into London with Dad, followed by an amused dragon and mouse to see a variety of buildings, get moderately lost and take a mountain of photos most of which look a bit naff. We visited (deep breath) Marlborough House, Linnean Society, Royal Society of Chemistry, Royal College of Pathologists, the Banqueting Hall, Foreign and India Offices, St Mary-le-Strand, the Royal Courts of Justice and the Honourable Company of Master Mariners. More pickies here.

Sunday - I was fairly determined about not putting my contact lenses in or putting on shoes. This meant a lot of pottering around the house and eventually ordering pizza for dinner due to complete lack of food in house. I put up shelves in the garage all by myself and despite the fact they are not level with the floor, the walls, the bricks, each other or the world in general they successfully hold stuff up so I'm going to declare them a success and hiss at anyone the criticises them. Considering at one point I was using a tomato as a spirit level I think they're pretty astounding.
