new user icon!

In more than 5 years of lj posting I have never used any icon except the purple one which I created in about 5 minutes as a temporary place holder. I haven't actually decided whether to swap permanently or not, but I might use it as a final kick to finally redesign my journal. Possibly.
The photo comes from a strange mood yesterday where I decided to see if I could actually create a photograph of me I didn't hate. I was also motivated by the fact that I bought new lip gloss and wanted an excuse to try it out. I don't even know why I bought lip gloss, the only reason my old one is running out is that it tastes good and needs re-applying every 5 minutes.
So after a lot of foundation, precarious balancing of tripods in front of mirrors, and a lot of badly focussed shots, I ended up with some photos of my I don't hate. Although I'm informed it doesn't look much like me so that may explain it. There's some more at flickr, but this one is my favourite.
