Back to normal
Sep. 1st, 2003 11:05 amWell, here I am, back at work. So obviously one of the first things I do is update my journal. It turns out that our websites have not fallen apart without my tlc for the week so all I have to do (ha! 'all'!) is the ongoing projects and major new things that I had to abandon. Unfortunately none of my managery kinda people are in yet so i don't really know what they want me to do first. Hence I'm killing some time. Good excuse isn't it, almost sounds credible.
The week off was absolutely brilliant. Nothing spectacularly exciting, just so nice to have time to myself to do things like tidying my room and cleaning the kitchen without having to lose 1/4 of my weekend to it. By yesterday afternoon I was completely and utterly relaxed and calm and happy, which is something I haven't been in a while.
Thursday saw Michael and I wandering round the corner to go to ects at Earls Court. This was lots of fun, just drifting round the stands, playing a few games, watching some presentations. Some pretty cool and funky stuff, half life 2 looks very cool even if we did have to queue for an hour to stand in a small black box with 30 other people and no air con. It was interesting to have a go at some of the N-Gages, but hte vodafone section was disappointing. UT2004 looks like it could be good, although the stuff on display didn't look *that* different to 2003 and it's obviously not finished. I have to say the thing I found coolest and enjoyed most though was the Magic the Gathering: Battlefields for the XBox. Pathetic huh?
Friday-Saturday descended into gossip and giggles as Ann and Jane came to visit. THere was much eating (although trying to feed 1 person who eats on meat or dairy and another who eats no carbohydrate or sugar proved a little bit of a challenge), drinking and watching of movies. On Sat we went for a nice quiet walk around Brompton Cemetry, it's very nice there (although slightly full of people on the way to the Chelsea game) and strangely depressing and uplifting at the same time. Went to dinner with James in the evening - don't have the garlic mayo burger from Gourmet Burgar Bar if you're planning on coming withing 5 foot of anyone else for the following few hours. Sunday was spent lazing aruond the house, finishing off Warcraft III and watching tv. Bliss.
There's a few updates on my site with film reviews including The Core, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Rain Man and a few others. I've now watched 71 individual films this year, so am nicely on target for my 100 in the year.
Oh, and I've just signed up for an evening class in journalism. Decided it was about time I tried to get my brain functioning again. Journalism is soemthing I think I could find interesting, that I've never done before, and that might even help me in my (apparently) chosen career of web-editing. I'm feeling all enthused about hte whole thing. It will possibly wear off when I get my first homework assignment ;0)
